Founder and owner of Red Rock Gallery, Richard Hoadley comes from a creative family. His father was an architect who loved painting, especially watercolours, while his mother created enamel jewellery.
In 1997, Richard took his first lesson in the lost wax method of making bronzes under tutelage of Kingsley Baird. After moving to Taupo, Richard built a big red shed where he could make bronzes. He also built the gallery space (Red Rock Gallery) to host art exhibitions and art classes. The gallery space is also home to a few other artists.
Richard also participated in a sculpture course at The Learning Connexion in Lower Hutt in 2014, with tutor Dennis Berdinner, where Richard learnt about the technical aspects of bronze work.
