You’re invited to the exhibition ‘Inside These Walls’ this Queens Birthday weekend. Exhibition open daily from Saturday 30 May until Tuesday 2 June 2020, 10 am – 4 pm.
Covid-19 has a lot to answer for, but at Red Rock Gallery we have not been beaten. Moving into Level 2 we’ve decided to host an exhibition of works by four artists, all with local connections. This is an opportunity for you to support the efforts of four artists – and also take a trip to the gallery.
About the artists
Chris Martin will be showing a selection of his paintings completed during the Level 3 and 4 lock down period. A once in our life time moment of history that hopefully will not occur again for a very long time.
Charlotte Goodman is currently based in Wellington, working at Te Papa and the gallery will be showing some of her recent paintings. Detailed stories expressed in a style not seen in Taupo before. Her style of art is very much about ‘play’ and experimenting with imaginary realms and the creatures that inhabit them. Happy experiences that will help get us all back on the road again.
Connie Takarangi has a selection of her poems mounted ready to hang on your wall, where you can read them at your leisure and be inspired on the next foggy morning, or evening with a full moon. How romantic is that! Also in keeping with her ethos of ‘Recycle, Re-purpose, Reuse, Rethink’, she will also be showing a range of capes, just in time for your winter wardrobe.
Richard Hoadley has some heavy bronze works for the exhibition. All lost wax models that have then been cast in bronze, right here in Taupo. Small sculptures all locally made.
Please note that all visitors must respect the strict social distancing precautions. Hand washing facilities are available at Red Rock Gallery.
